The Simple Return

Alone footprints make their way
Deeper into a deserted land —
Far from light, further from hope,
As change remains a distant miracle.

Thoughts confine to perceived direction,
Forgotten of following freedom —
As directed perception remains focused,
And darkness approaches as a friend.

Yet, simple as it may seem,
Your approaching path may exist behind you —
Within the many deserted footprints
You took so long to form.

For every darkened valley is escapable
Because with every entrance is an exit —
To turn a darkened life around,
One must return to their beginning.

A simple choice is all that’s needed —
For once you decide to make your own miracle
And return to your source from within,
The light shall be one step closer to you.
